farah was amazing!!! i have never had anyone at any salon do such a great job!!! will definitely be back...this is now a favorite place for me...thanks farah, you made my birthday magnificent...wish i could give more stars!!!
Samina is the best. Very gentle and professional make sure everything was done right and I was very satisfied.
Today was my 4th time at this salon. I did not call before I came because from past experience calling in advance is not productive & does not save time or eliminate uncomfortable situations or discussions. When I walked in the salon thankfully Zora, the stylist recognized me from last week. And immediately said "keratin?" Yes please! She asked if I could wait about 15 minutes. I said of course & asked to use the restroom while I was waiting. When I went to the back where the bathroom is, it smelled really good. Panang curry maybe? So when I came back there was a different stylist - she had obviously been told I wanted keratin. I said I wanted to know the price before they started the treatment. She quoted me $200, then Zara comes back & says $250- I'm like. We had this conversation last week & I told you $250 was more than I was willing to spend. You told me to come back this week before 3pm & you said you would work with me on the price. Then she says, Mon-Wed are our least busy days but today is Thursday. Thursdays,- Saturdays are our busiest days & it's harder to mark the prices down on these days. Totally understandable. I can respect that. We have 2 vacation rentals on Airbnb & the price for weekends is more than during the week days. I can assume that the same is true in this industry. What I don't & can't respect is that when I call the salon the person taking the calls & making the appointments is not in the salon & does not communicate your appointment with the salon. They have two locations so I can only imagine the issues this has caused for previous clients. ------//---------------- Hit pause for about 20 minutes ---------//----------------- So I'm sitting in the chair, a little mad, with keratin all over my scalp & hair, it's literally dripping off my head. Then I asked myself, What would improve this situation? Food! I was definitely Hangry. I decided to put on my big girl panties & starting trying to match their kindness. When they burned my scalp again I nicely told them the hair dryer &!flat iron was too hot, too close to my scalp, and it burned. They were super quick to apologize, correct & kept asking if I was okay/comfortable. So unfortunately some of the blame for my past negative experiences was mine. Which is weird because I'm big on communication and honesty but I wasn't putting out the energy i wanted to receive. Funny how a Coke & some food can be such a game changer! Remember the old Coca Cola advertisement "A Coke & a smile"? So finally I just asked about the Owner because truly that's one of my biggest hurdles with this business. Zara explained that the Owner works from home so she can take care of bookings for both salons and her 3 kiddos at home but that she does let the salon know when a client is coming in. The feminist in me wanted to crawl under the chair! Always put yourself in the other person's shoes before judging!! When my hair was done it looked great! They knew they did great because they started taking pictures of my hair. And my hair is really hard to do! So kudos all the way around. I just needed to cowgirl up & realize the first visit with the Groupon price was a special deal I got. Kind of like a first date. I can't seem to get the magic back of being so happy about the price & quality of work that I got on my first visit, that fluttery feeling for the same price again. I need to either start doing my own hair again or accept that I have a lot of hair & it costs more to have mine done than other people but Zara & the other stylist worked hard on my hair & it turned out really pretty. I find we either have time or money but very rarely do we have both. In this situation I think the time i will save doing my hair for the next few months while my keratin keeps was worth the increase in cost. I'm not here to bad mouth businesses. In fact I try to find the good whenever I can. Hence the lack of negative reviews from me. If I don't have anything nice to say I try not to say anything at all. If the shop or business corrects the mistakes, I remove the negative review. I won't be doing that this time because I think the backstory might help fellow Yelpers decide if they want to try this salon or not.
I have to say I was a little nervous at first because I got a voucher on Groupon to get my first Brazilian wax. It's a little what seems like family ran salon. I never had a Brazilian wax before, so I was even more nervous BUT! Zarah and zarah made me feel so welcomed and comfortable during the whole process! They were such good sports about keeping me calm and distracted that their efforts literally made me belly roll, laughing!!! They were so nice and sweet that not only will I be bringing a friend back with me but I don't mind driving just to come here! if you're looking for low price quality services with good energy, I definitely recommend coming here
I desperately needed my eyebrows done...so I did a little research a found this great place. my eyebrows came out looking perfect. Salon was clean and the service was great!! thanks again.
